Sri Lanka and Pakistan Unite for Innovation: Lake Grand Project Takes Center Stage

A high-level business delegation led by Chairman of the OBOR Group of Pakistan Shahid Firoz and Consul General of Sri Lanka in Karachi Jagath Abeywarna undertook a 06-day visit to Sri Lanka from 15-22 July 2024 strengthening economic relations between the two countries and fostering a promising future cooperation.

The visit was arranged by the Sri Lanka Consulate General in Karachi in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau and the Export Development Board. During the visit, collaborative opportunities for OBOR Group's Lake Grand Green project which is an eco- tourism project as well as partnerships in construction materials and technology sectors were explored.

The delegation met senior most officials of over 40 Sri Lankan companies and the meetings focused on fostering partnerships in eco-tourism, ayurveda, agriculture, and construction materials.

The OBOR Group is parented by the leading Pakistani business house with a history of over 100 years and diverse interest in many prominent sectors including chemicals and pharmaceuticals, leisure, and tourism, innovative building materials, real estate and construction, IT & telecommunications. The Lake Grand Project, with an estimated budget of US$ 300 million, represents the Group's latest multinational venture in the leisure sector.
