Sri Lanka and Latvia successfully conclude inaugural bilateral consultations

Sri Lanka and Latvia convened the inaugural bilateral consultations between the two Foreign Ministries on 10 July 2024 in Colombo.

Discussions centred on further consolidating bilateral ties in the political, economic, climate, ICT and higher education realms. The two countries agreed to work towards further strengthening and diversifying trade relations. The two delegations also discussed cooperation at multilateral fora.

The next session of the bilateral consultations will take place in Riga, Latvia in 2026.

The Consultations were co-chaired by Additional Secretary/West of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka Yasoja Gunasekera and Head of the Bilateral Relations Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia Katarina Plātere.
