Ambassador Ameer Ajwad paid a courtesy call on Dr. Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al Manthri, Chairman of State Council (Upper House) of the Sultanate of Oman on 21.08.2019. He conveyed the warm greetings from President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said and His Government. Ambassador Ameer Ajwad also conveyed greetings from the Speaker of Sri Lanka Parliament, Karu Jayasuriya who is the counterpart of Dr. Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al Manthri.
During the discussion, the Chairman of State Council of Oman recalled his fruitful visit to Sri Lanka in December 2017 leading a State Council delegation of Oman following the establishment of Sri Lanka-Oman Parliamentary Friendship Association. The visit was reciprocated by Sri Lanka Parliamentary delegation led by Speaker Karu Jayasuriya to Oman in March 2018.
Ambassador Ameer Ajwad stated that the exchange of these visits was a significant milestone in the bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and Oman and that he looked forward to build on the momentum generated by these high level visits.
Chairman of State Council of Oman extended his support and cooperation in further enhancing bilateral relations in the areas of mutual interest with particular focus on economic cooperation between Sri Lanka and the Sultanate of Oman.
