Ambassador Sudantha Genegama Arachchi, presented his Letters of Credence on 10th May 2019 to Her Excellency Mrs Kersti Kaljulaid, President of the Republic of Estonia as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sri Lanka to the Republic of Estonia with residence in Stockholm.
The bilateral meeting between the Estonian President and Ambassador Ganegama Arachchi centred on possibilities of enhancing bilateral cooperation. It was agreed that two counties need to work together to identify areas of possible cooperation including in the fields of Information and Communication Technology and e-Governance.
At the meeting with the Senior Officials of the Estonian Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Ganegama Arachchi pointed out the keen interest of Sri Lanka to deepen the relations with Estonia. The Estonian side was also briefed about the current political and economic developments in Sri Lanka. Both sides agreed to consider signing an MOU on Political Consultations and to exchange high level visits for further strengthening bilateral relations.
Ambassador Ganegama Arachchi met Sri Lankan community members at the office of the Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka in Estonia. At the request of the Ambassador, they agreed to initiate activities to promote people-to-people contacts between Estonia and Sri Lanka.
Mr Vallo Paal, Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka in Estonia extended assistance during the visit to Estonia. Mr Harsha Vithanaarachchi, Minister of the Embassy accompanied the Ambassador during the visit.
