‘Our dedication and fascination to Cricket can open new opportunities, in advancing economic benefits and strengthen the bilateral relations between our two nations‘ said Kumara Mallimaratchi, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in South Africa at a meeting with CEO of the Cricket South Africa Mr.Thabang Moroe.
The Meeting between the officials of Sri Lanka High Commission and the Cricket Board of South Africa was focused to promote tourism industries in both countries through sports relations, especially Cricket. The meeting was attended by key officials at Cricket SA, including Head Commercial & Marketing, Mr. Clive Eksteen and Transformation & Member Relations Executive, Mr. Maxwell Jordaan.
High Commissioner Mr. Mallimaratchi explained to the SA Cricket authorities, the avenues open for tourism promotions through highlighting attractions in both countries in between the match telecasts, in reciprocal basis. Mr. Thabang Moroe was happy about the suggestion and briefed on their readiness to sign an MoU between South Africa Cricket and SA Tourism Department to work hand in hand to promote South Africa. He agreed to work closely with Sri Lanka High Commission in the future to facilitate tourism promotion of South Africa and Sri Lanka during future cricket matches.
Counsellor to the High Commission Mrs. Priyangani Hewarathna and First Secretary - Commercial Mr. Kapila J Kumara, also attended the Meeting.
