Nineteen award-winning Sri Lankan craftsmen are displaying their creations at “Shilpa Sri Lanka-2009” Crafts Exhibition Cum Fair now being held at Dilli Haat, Sri Aurobindo Marg, New Delhi. The Exhibition which began on 25th August goes on until 3 September 2009.
The exhibition was inaugurated on 26 August in a simple ceremony by the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Government of India, Mr Sanjay Agarwal, and the Acting High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in India, Mr Palitha Ganegoda.
The event this year comes in the wake of the tremendously successful similar event in October 2008, where exquisite traditional and modern handicrafts symbolic of Sri Lanka’s scenic beauty and its multi-ethnic and multi-cultural diversity, were on sale. The items this year too include Lacquerware, Woodcarvings, Fibre Products, Masks, Hand Made Wooden Toys, Reed & Rush products, Cane products, Lace products, Batik, Ceramic Stoneware and Velvet Paintings etc. “Shilpa Sri Lanka- 2009” will surely provide an excellent opportunity for those who are interested in the best of handicrafts, at very reasonable prices.
