‘August Sun’ (Ira Madiyama), a Sri Lankan film produced in the year 2007 by the renowned film director Mr. Prasanna Vithanage, which has won many international awards and featured prominently in the world festival circuit was screened at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Thailand (FCCT) on 22nd April 2013.

The audience was moved and at the same time disturbed by the much-acclaimed movie which feelingly portrayed the effect of the 30-year-old civil on different strata of Sri Lankan society including a housewife, soldier and a Muslim refugee.
The Ambassador of Sri Lanka H.E. Gen. Shantha Kottegoda addressed the gathering and stated that country was in peace finally after a very long period of turmoil and disturbance. The Ambassador appreciated the support extended by FCCT in organizing the event and thanked Mr. Prasanna Vithanage for his generosity in providing the film.
