z_p01-REJECTED-uSince the UNHRC resolution against Sri Lanka is an unfair unilateral resolution, the government will not agree to or cooperate with any program implemented through it, Mass Media and Information Minister and Cabinet spokesman Keheliya Rambukwella said.

He said the resolution has been mooted in a baseless and malicious manner based on incorrect data and whatever arguments are brought forward to justify it with the strength of votes cast by various countries, 'it is definitely a unilateral resolution which is completely unreasonable - and malicious in intent.' Minister Rambukwella expressed these views addressing a press conference at the Kandy District Secretariat on Monday.

The minister said Sri Lanka being a sovereign nation, its government led by the elected head of state had the duty, responsibility and right to take decisions on behalf of the people - and as such there is no room for anyone to initiate or allow any action inimical to the country's interests.

Minister Rambukwella said as the country was being developed rapidly to the astonishment of the whole world after the most ruthless terrorist outfit in the world was defeated, it was quite natural that obstructions of this nature should come our way, but we have always overcome them courageously.
