The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Pretoria hasted an Iftar Ceremony for the Sri Lankan Islamic community in South Africa, at the High Commissioner's Residence, on June 2019.
At the event, High Commissioner, Kumar Mallimaratchi spoke of the need for all Sri Lankans to assist in defeating the religious extremism and to live in unity as “Sri Lankans” irrespective of their race or religion.
He appreciated the assistance provided by the Muslim community in South Africa for the functions conducted by the Mission in the past.
On behalf of Muslim community, M. Izzi thanked the High Commissioner and the Mission staff for organizing an Iftar ceremony for the first time by the High Commission.
