The Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Guangzhou with Sri Lankan Guangdong Sunshine Holiday International Travel Agency Co.LTD, participated in the China (Guangdong) International Tourism Industry Exposition (CITIE) held from 11-13 September 2020 in Guangzhou, which was organized by the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province.
The Consulate designed the Sri Lanka stall embossed with vibrant beautiful pictures of prominent tourist attractions, archeological sites on its halls and several handicrafts of Sri Lanka were also displayed, enticing a large number of visitors to the stall who obtained information on Sri Lanka including travel guidance. Tourist brochures and travel information in Chinese were distributed to visitors to the booth.
The stall was manned by staff of the Consulate clad in Sri Lankan traditional dress and staff of travel agency, throughout the period of the exposition.
The Consul General was interviewed by ‘Radio Greater Bay’ for their programme on “Explore the World” played on the China Media Group Application, where she introduced the beauties of Sri Lanka and the easy visa policy and enticed Chinese nationals of the Greater Bay Area and all of China to visit Sri Lanka soon.
Consulate Generals of Cuba, Iran, Ecuador, Uruguay, Iran, UAE, Argentina, Laos, Venezuela and Indonesia also participated in this year’s exposition.
The CITIE had been successfully held annually since 2005 and had developed into one of the largest professional fairs in China with the highest level of internationalization. It is a specialized platform for sharing information, purchasing products and business development for tourism related exhibitors and buyers. More than 40 countries and regions as well as over 41 provincial and municipal delegations, 18 travel agencies and other tourism, cultural related groups, participated at this year’s fair. Also over 500 professional buyers as well as a large number of visitors attended the fair.
