Consul General of Sri Lanka in Guangzhou, Priyangika Dharmasena met with Senior Vice President of International & Corporate Relations of China Southern Airlines Wu Guoxiang and other officials of the airline on 28 February 2019. During the discussion, the Consul General sought the cooperation of the Airline to promote more Chinese tourist arrivals in Sri Lanka.
Senior Vice President Wu warmly appreciated Consul General's presence and suggested that the Airline and the Consulate General of Sri Lanka collaborate to organize a programme to promote Sri Lanka tourism.
China Southern Airlines inaugurated 3 weekly flights to Colombo in September 2017.
The Airline ranks the first in Asia, in terms of fleet size with more than 840 aircrafts. It operates nearly 1000 domestic and international routes and carries more than 15 million passengers annually to and from countries and regions in the ‘Belt and Road’ region.
China is Sri Lanka's second largest tourist market and last year, 265,965 Chinese tourists arrived in Sri Lanka.
