The people of the North, South, East and the West are all equal in my eyes and I am the President of all of them, said President Mahinda Rajapaksa .
“I am the President not only for the South and North but of the entire country. Therefore, I treat everyone equally,” the President said.
President Rajapaksa was addressing a gathering at a ceremony to offer 20,000 land deeds and the ownership of gold jewellery in Kilinochchi yesterday.
He said he wants to create a country where everybody lives in unity, peace and harmony.
The President requested the people to join hands with the Government to build a prosperous country for the future generation.
“I will always do my duty for the benefit of the country,” the President added.
“It is also the responsibility of the people’s representatives to work for the good of the country,” he said
President Rajapaksa said that the government plans to irrigate the Northern Province lands using Mahaweli water meeting a long felt need of the area.
