Permanent Representative Saroja Sirisena Presents Credentials to CTBTO Executive Secretary, Dr. Lassina Zerbo

Ambassador Saroja Sirisena presented Letters of Credence to Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) Dr. Lassina Zerbo on 21 August 2019, at the office of the CTBTO in the Vienna International Centre accrediting her as the Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the CTBTO.

During the interaction, the Permanent Representative commended the extensive work carried out by the CTBTO under the leadership of Dr. Lassina Zerbo to strengthen the technical capacities of the developing world. Dr. Zerbo appreciated Sri Lanka’s participation to the activities of the CTBTO and invited Sri Lanka to be involved in future activities of the Organization.

Ambassador Sirisena, emphasised the significance of capacity building programmes conducted by the CTBTO, technical cooperation among the Member States and its impact on the developing world. She highlighted the importance of Sri Lanka’s inclusion in future CTBTO activities and reaffirmed Sri Lanka’s commitment to the work of the Organization.

Ambassador Sirisena joined Sri Lanka Foreign Service in 1998 and served as Director General Economic Affairs, Director General Public Diplomacy and the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs immediately prior to her appointment in Vienna.

In her Diplomatic Career, she served as the Consul General of Sri Lanka in Mumbai from 2014-2018 and held positions at Sri Lanka Missions in Geneva, Brussels and Paris.

Ambassador Sirisena is a graduate of the University of Melbourne, Australia and has completed post graduate studies at the École Nationale d’Administration in France. She is a past pupil of Devi Balika Vidyalaya, Colombo.

The ceremony was attended by Second Secretary, Mahesh Mahakumarage,  Attaché of the Sri Lanka Mission, Asanka Weerasingha and  Special Assistant to the Executive Secretary, CTBTO, Mohammad Darayaei.
