Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, South Africa, at the briefing for the Diplomatic Corps in Pretoria.
Sri Lanka High Commissioner to South Africa, Mr. Kumar Mallimaratchi attended the Meeting. As this is the first encounter with the Hon. Minister, after presenting Credentials, this was a great opportunity for Mr. Mallimaratchi to introduce himself to the Minister and shares his views on strengthening the relation with African Region. Minister Sisulu, welcomed and introduced High Commissioner Kumar Mallimaratchi and other seven Ambassadors who presented Credentials recently in South Africa.
This engagement was important as it is the last one before national elections of South Africa, scheduled for May the 8th. The Minister’s briefing touched on a number of issues, i.e the coming elections, report from the AU Summit, South Africa’s priorities in the United Nations Security Council, challenges and key developments in the country.
