A musical programme titled “Ninnada 2018” was held at the Salomi Hall in Beirut on 23 December 2018 under the patronage of Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Lebanon H.M.G.R.R.K.Wijerathne Mendis.
The programme, which was intended to be a community welfare activity, saw the participation of the Sri Lankan expatriate community living in Lebanon.
Sri Lankan migrant workers living in Lebanon entertained the gathering of approximately 500 Sri Lankan and other nationals with Sri Lankan songs demonstrating their talents.
At the programme Ambassador Wijerathne Mendis was awarded a token of appreciation by the “Sri Lanka Gayaka Gayika Sansadaya” in Lebanon for the tremendous services she has rendered to the Sri Lankan community in Lebanon since 2015.
The Embassy also awarded tokens of appreciation for 15 Sri Lankans who performed in the programme.
The Bank of Ceylon sponsored the event and conducted a promotional campaign at the event premises targeting to increase foreign remittance to Sri Lanka.
Diplomatic Staff of the Sri Lanka Embassy, representatives from Non-Governmental Organizations, representatives of the Sri Lankan Societies and a large number of Sri Lankan migrant workers were present at the event.
