Myanmar Confers “Aggamaha Panditha” title on Ven. Makkulawe Wimala Nayake Thero

The honorary title "Aggamaha Panditha" was conferred on Ven. Makkulawe Wimala Nayake Thero, Adhikarana Sangha Nayake of the Ramanya Maha Nikaya of Sri Lanka at a ceremony held on 20 March 2019 at Sathana Holy Place, Upatanthandi Pagoda in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar.

The President of Myanmar, U Win Myint, First Lady Daw Cho Cho and State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi presented religious titles to local and foreign monks and devotees.

His Holiness Sitagu Syadaw, Dr. Ashin Niyanissara and Sitagu International Buddhist Academy  in Myanmar  hosted the Buddhist monk delegation led by Ven. Makkulawe Wimala Nayake Thero, Adkhikarana Sangha Nayake of the Ramanya Maha Nikaya of Sri Lanka.  Two hundred and fifty four monks, fourteen nuns and ninety three Myanmar devotees were conferred religious titles at this ceremony.

The Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Myanmar Nandimithra Ekanayake and Embassy officials attended this religious event and offered a special Pirikara Pooja to the Ven. Nayake Thero.
