Memorial Service held at High Commission in Pretoria Chancery in honour of victims of the terror attacks in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka High Commission in Pretoria organized a Memorial Prayer Service on 28 April 2019, in memory of Sri Lankans and Foreign Nationals who lost their lives and to pray for speedy recovery of the injured victims, of the Easter Sunday tterror attacks that took place in several churches and hotels in Colombo on  21 April, 2019.

Sri Lankans living in South Africa participated at the solemn memorial service with      Sr. Mary Catherine Frances from Sri Lanka, and 3 other Sisters from Kenya and Madagascar. The gathering observed a two minutes silence in memory of the victims of the tragedy.

Addressing the audience, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Pretoria, Kumar Mallimaratchi stated that this senseless act is against humanity. After terrorism was defeated in 2009, we are all shocked to witness suicide bombings, which killed innocent Christian devotees in churches and tourists in hotels. He also mentioned that Sri Lankans are resilient, and will get over this tragedy by getting rid of extremists. The High Commissioner on behalf of the gathering, expressed the solidarity and sympathy with the people of Sri Lanka and all the victims of terror.
