Following reports on the stampede last week in Mina/Mecca in Saudi Arabia two Sri Lankan hajj pilgrims have been reported missing since 24th of September 2015.
The Consular Affairs Division of the Ministry informed the Sri Lanka Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and Sri Lankan Consulate General in Jeddah to locate the whereabouts of the missing persons.
Following reports on the stampede last week in Mina/Mecca in Saudi Arabia two Sri Lankan hajj pilgrims have been reported missing since 24th of September 2015.
The Consular Affairs Division of the Ministry informed the Sri Lanka Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and Sri Lankan Consulate General in Jeddah to locate the whereabouts of the missing persons.
The Embassy had immediately sent Embassy officials to search for the missing persons. They had visited the site and different hospitals in the area. However they were not successful in locating the missing persons and no information has been received by them to date.
The Sri Lanka Embassy has also informed that they have requested relevant Saudi authorities to locate the two Sri Lankans as soon as possible.
