In the framework of the cooperation between healthcare sectors of Sri Lanka and Russia, a series of lectures on Sri Lanka's Healthcare System took place on 07 August and 21 August 2021.
Additional Secretary (Medical Services), Ministry of Health of Sri Lanka Dr. Sunil De Alwis shared Sri Lanka's experience with the trainees of the Moscow Metropolitan Governance Yury Luzhkov University.
The initiative came as a result of collaboration between the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow and the Moscow Metropolitan Governance University, which annually organizes training for Heads of Moscow Hospitals, which also includes study tours to foreign countries.
This year the University is planning to send its high-level trainees to Sri Lanka and the Embassy, in coordination with the Ministry of Health of Sri Lanka, organized online lectures for the trainees before they depart to Sri Lanka. The topics of the lectures by Dr. Sunil De Alwis were: History of the Sri Lankan Health System, Sri Lanka's Healthcare System, Health Institutions in Sri Lanka.
About 20 Heads of Moscow Hospitals attended the online lectures, actively participated in the Q&A sessions and expressed their genuine interest to the healthcare system of Sri Lanka, as well as to the coming study tour to Sri Lanka.
The Embassy expresses its gratitude to the Ministry of Health of Sri Lanka and personally to Additional Secretary (Medical Services) Dr. Sunil De Alwis, for his personal input to the project, as well as to the Administration of the Moscow Metropolitan Governance Yury Luzhkov University and personally, Rector of the University Vasily Yurievich Fiveisky for his interest to the development of relations with Sri Lanka and its institutions.
