This is the first combined team of boys and girls from New Delhi to visit Southern Sri Lanka. Earlier, in July 2012, a team of students from Richmond College visited Montfort School, New Delhi. This return visit will be another opportunity for both schools to further develop and strengthen their interaction as well as to expand their friendship and knowledge of both countries.
The Indian students will get an opportunity to visit the homes of their Sri Lankan friends in order to experience the Sri Lankan cuisine, lifestyles and to have a glimpse of the Sri Lankan culture. They will visit Kandy and Kelaniya for sightseeing during their stay in Sri Lanka.
The Students Exchange Programme is organized by the India-Sri Lanka Foundation established by the Governments of India and Sri Lanka in 1998 in order to promote greater understanding through enhancement of economic, scientific, educational, technical and cultural cooperation between the peoples of the two nations. Prior to their departure to Sri Lanka, Indian School Team met High Commissioner Prasad Kariyawasam at the High Commission in New Delhi.
