Mr. Harim Peiris received his official letter of appointment as Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs on 15 June 2016 from Minister Mangala Samaraweera. Mr. Peiris is also Sri Lanka’s Point of Contact for the Open Government Partnership (OGP).

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mangala Samaraweera, upon the approval of the Cabinet of Ministers, has appointed Harim Peiris, as Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, with immediate effect.


Mr. Harim Peiris has previously held a variety of senior official positions, most recently as the Chairman of the Resettlement Authority and a Member of the Coordinating Committee of the Office of National Unity and Reconciliation (ONUR).  He has also served as Presidential Spokesman, Chairman of Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation and as Director General of Rehabilitation and Reconciliation.


Mr. Peiris is a graduate in Finance and has an MBA in International Business from the University of Texas, USA. He is a political analyst and a freelance contributor to several national newspapers. He is the son of late Nirmal C. Peiris MA (Cantab) one-time Counsellor in Sri Lanka’s Mission to the UN in New York and Additional Secretary to the Prime Minister.
