High Commissioner H.E. Sunil De Silva presented credentials as the High Commissioner Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Swaziland (resident in Pretoria), in the capital Mbabane on 6th April 2017. The High Commissioner conveyed warm personal greetings from the President of Sri Lanka to His Majesty King Mswati III.
In his speech, the King of Swaziland warmly recalled his visit to Sri Lanka in 2012 and reiterated on the friendly ties that exist between Sri Lanka and Swaziland. Further, his Majesty expressed hope in further enhancing bilateral trade and investment ties and tourism sector for the benefit of both countries.
Swaziland is a small landlocked country surrounded by South Africa and the Mozambique. There is a small Sri Lankans community living and working in the Kingdom and few private companies from Sri Lanka have investments in Swaziland.
The Kingdom of Swaziland which is a member of the Commonwealth and the Non-aligned Movement (NAM) is one of the few remaining absolute monarchical Governments in the world.
