Despite the measures to curtail the spread of COVID 19 in South Africa, Sri Lanka High Commission in Pretoria recently arranged virtual meetings with the Heads of Mission of concurrently accredited countries in Pretoria; Nambia and Eswatini, intending to capture the opportunities for Sri Lankan industries at African Market i.e. IT and Textile sectors. For the virtual discussion, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to South Africa S. Amarasekara, High Commissioner of Nambia to South Africa Veiccoh K. Nghiwete and Actg. Head of Mission for the Kingdom of Eswatini to South Africa Vulindlela S.Kunene were participated.
High Commissioner Amarasekara briefed Sri Lanka’s efforts to curtail the spread of COVID -19 and the attention towards African Markets of the booming Private sector companies in IT, Construction, and Textile in Sri Lanka.
In their responses, the Heads of Mission of Namibia and Eswatini explained the opportunities in their countries, shared the successful stories of Sri Lankan businesses operating in their respective countries, and ensure their support to find new business avenues for the Sri Lankans. Further, both parties agreed to share the business and trade opportunities with relevant parties in the capitals and arrange some B2B meetings for the prospective business partners.
