High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to South Africa S.Amarasekara met Ambassador of Zimbabwe to South Africa David Hamadziripi recently at the Zimbabwean Embassy in Pretoria.
The purpose of the visit was to enhance the existing bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe is one of the 9 countries which are concurrently accredited to the Sri Lankan High Commission in Pretoria, South Africa.
During the meeting, High Commissioner Amarasekara emphasized the importance of more collaboration between the developing countries such as Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe to share the expertise/knowledge and experience of success stories of both countries, which are demonstrating good performance and innovative ideas. Further, High Commissioner pointed out the potential areas, which were not been tapped by both parties yet, such as trade opportunities in the supply of the raw materials, import and export of seasonal vegetables and fruits, etc.
Ambassador Hamadziripi thanked the High Commissioner for the interest in enhancing existing relations between Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka. He further explained that the categories of agricultural products from Zimbabwe to the world markets and the successful usage of organic manure for those agricultural products. At this discussion, High Commissioner Amarasekara requested Ambassador Hamadzirip for his assistance to coordinate and exchange the technical know-how on organic fertilizer manufacturing process and organic farming to Sri Lankan authorities in agriculture sectors, infirmity with the government latest initiatives towards converting the country to organic farming.
