High Commission of Sri Lanka in Pretoria welcomes the Defence Service Delegation from Defence Services Command and Staff College  (DSCSC), Sapugaskanda

Sri Lanka High Commissioner, Kumar Mallimaratchi and staff warmly welcomed the delegation of the Defence Services Command and Staff College, on 02 September 2019. The Delegation is on a Two-Week Study Visit to South Africa from 1 – 13 September 2019. The 16 member delegation headed by Air Cdre. C.B. Labrooy, WWV, RSP, USP MMS consists of 2 Faculty Members, 6 Army Officers, 3 Navy Officers, 3 Air Force Officers and a Major from China.

At the meeting held at the High Commission, High Commissioner Mallimaratchi briefed the delegation on the history and current issues of South Africa and wished them a successful tour ahead. The High Commissioner also mentioned that as the 1st Defence Services Delegation to South Africa, this will be historic in the 25 years of bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and South Africa.

The Study Tour provides opportunity for the Undergraduate Officers to enhance their knowledge by studying history, socio-cultural affinities, functional mechanisms of military and significant geo-strategic aspects with precedence to the Military Diplomacy.

The delegation will visit important establishments of Governance such as the Executive, Legislature, and SA Joint Operations Head Quarters, Training Command, National Defence College, National War College, Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO), Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Economic Policy Research Institute, SA Naval Base in Simon’s Town and Military Academy in South Africa.
