The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Islamabad commenced work for the new year on 01 January 2025, by following formalities including the customary hoisting of the national flag, rendering the national anthem, observing a two-minute silence to commemorate all who sacrificed their lives for the country and reciting the Oath of Public Servants.
This year’s event focused on the government’s initiative “Clean Sri Lanka” which is a vital process aimed at fostering teamwork and accountability to create a prosperous country and a better-quality of life. Staff members of the High Commission pledged to support this national programme, free from cast, religious, or political prejudices.
Acting High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Islamabad, Christy Ruban addressed the staff, emphasizing the importance of dedication and commitment in achieving the government's vision for the nation's progress. He also outlined the goals and objectives of the Mission for the new year and extended his wishes for a peaceful and prosperous new year to all staff members and their families.
The ceremony concluded with a serving of traditional Sri Lankan foods and sweets, marking the start of the new year with simplicity and a touch of cultural pride.
