The Ministry of Foreign Affairs celebrated the sacred Poson Poya with a ‘Poson Bakthi Gee Programme’ organized by the Sri Lanka Foreign Service Association (SLFSA) on Wednesday 10th June 2015 at its Main Conference Hall, with the participation of all staff. The ‘Poson Bakthi Gee’ Choir comprised members of the SLFSA.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs celebrated the sacred Poson Poya with a ‘Poson Bakthi Gee Programme’ organized by the Sri Lanka Foreign Service Association (SLFSA) on Wednesday 10th June 2015 at its Main Conference Hall, with the participation of all staff. The ‘Poson Bakthi Gee’ Choir comprised members of the SLFSA.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon. Ajith P. Perera graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ms. Chitranganee Wagiswara was present on the occasion. The SLFSA was represented by its membership led by President Ms. Manisha Gunasekera, and Secretary Ms. S.H.U. Dissanayake.
All staff of the Ministry attended this religious and cultural event. This is the first occasion on which a ‘Poson Bakthi Gee’ programme was organized in the Ministry by the members of SLFSA. The Hon. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs addressing the gathering, appreciated this initiative by the SLFSA, and observed that such religious and cultural events not only promote peaceful co-existence among all communities, but also encourage greater interaction among all staff in the Foreign Ministry.
The ‘Bakthi Gee’ repertoire included popular songs such as Danno Budunge, Paramitha bala pooritha poojitha and Himisanaramara. The music for the programme was provided by the National Music troupe of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and the stage décor was executed by the Sri Lanka Army.
