Foreign Minister Tilak Marapana meets with the Members of the Friends of Sri Lanka Group in the European Parliament at the Ambassador’s Residence in Brussels - 25.09.2017
Foreign Minister Tilak Marapana during his official visit to Brussels met with Mr. Geoffrey Van Orden, MEP, Chair and Members of the EU – Sri Lanka Parliamentary Friendship Group in the European Parliament on 25.09.2017 at a dinner hosted by Ambassador Rodney Perera in Brussels. The other EU Parliamentarians, who attended the event were MEPs Jan Zahradil, William Dartmouth, Johannes van Baalen, James Carver and several parliamentary advisers representing political groups in the EU Parliament.
The Chair of the Friendship Group Mr. Van Orden in his speech welcoming Foreign Minister Marapana to Brussels appreciated steps taken by the Government to strengthen democracy, promote good governance and bring about reconciliation in Sri Lanka. The Group expressed their firm support and solidarity to the Foreign Minister in helping to strengthen EU – Sri Lanka relations. The Group also informed that they hoped to visit Sri Lanka next year.
