A former senior LTTE cadre, Yo Karnan, who has now turned writer in Jaffna, in one of his latest write-ups, recollecting the final moments of war in the Wanni in 2009, has described the Northern Provincial Councillor (NPC), Ananthy Sasitharan's husband, Sasitharan alias Elilan, as a ruthless cadre.
Karnan, who lost a leg when he was an LTTE cadre, has written that he had witnessed the ruthless manner in which Elilan handled hundreds of innocent civilians, who were trying to flee the war-torn areas in the Mullaitivu District."Elilan suppressed the Maththalan agitation by the civilians, where four persons were shot by him. At that time I saw Elilan walking around with a big sword with blood in his hand, threatening the civilians not to flee.
