Upon the signing of a Joint Communiqué by Mr. Karunatilaka Amunugama, Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs of Sri Lanka and H.E. Ruben Ignacio Zamora, Ambassador of El Salvador to India on 10th December 2012 in Colombo, the Government of Sri Lanka and the Government of El Salvador decided to establish Diplomatic Relations between the two countries with effect from 10th December 2012.

Ruben Ignacio Zamora, Ambassador of El Salvador to India on 10th December 2012 in Colombo, the Government of Sri Lanka and the Government of El Salvador decided to establish Diplomatic Relations between the two countries with effect from 10th December 2012.
The establishment of diplomatic ties between Sri Lanka and El Salvador would enhance the existing friendly relations and cooperation in the political, socio-economic and cultural fields for the mutual benefit of the two countries.
