The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Jakarta hosted Sahabat Sri Lanka (Friends of Sri Lanka) programme on 01 March 2024 with a view to fostering friendship and cultural exchange with Indonesian youth. The event gathered Indonesian youth between ages of 18-30 and two Sri Lankan students who are studying Indonesia symbolizing the friendship between the two countries.
During the event, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Indonesia and ASEAN Admiral Professor Jayanath Colombage delivered a presentation on "Global Warming, Climate Change, and Impact on Human Security”. Minister Counsellor (Defence) of the Embassy of Sri Lanka Chaminda Karunasena shared insights on defence relations between Indonesia and Sri Lanka.
A cooking demonstration that featured Sri Lankan culinary delights provided an opportunity for the participants to experience Sri Lanka's rich culinary heritage.
