Embassy of Sri Lanka launches a health check-up campaign for the Sri Lankan community in Bahrain

 

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Bahrain, in collaboration with Al Hilal Healthcare Center in Bahrain, launched a month-long free medical check-up campaign for the Sri Lankan community in Bahrain on 31 October 2024. This initiative aims to promote health awareness among Sri Lankan nationals residing in the Kingdom of Bahrain, by providing access to essential health screenings and consultations free of charge, during the month of November.

The free health check-up package includes essential assessments such as blood pressure measurement, body mass index (BMI) assessment, blood sugar and cholesterol screening, liver and kidney function tests, and free doctor consultations with general practitioners and specialists.

In addition, the Al Hilal Medical Center of Manama Central Branch is offering a special eye vision check-up for Sri Lankan students, including the students of Sri Lankan School in Bahrain. An ophthalmologist will be available from 01 to 30 November 2024,  to conduct eye examinations for students, assisting them  with vision-related concerns.

Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Bahrain, H. M. G. R. R. K. Wijeratne Mendis, and CEO of Al Hilal Healthcare Group Dr. Sharath Chandran graced the inauguration ceremony as guests of honour of the event.

In her remarks, Ambassador Wijeratne Mendis emphasized the importance of proactive healthcare and extended her gratitude to Al Hilal Medical Center for supporting this vital initiative. She further highlighted that the President of Sri Lanka has prioritized a progressive vision for social welfare, with a special focus on empowering women-led families and supporting migrant workers, by recognizing the vibrant roles these groups play in the socio-economic fabric of the country.

The event was attended by Minister and Head of Chancery of the Embassy of Sri Lanka Madhuka Silva; Second Secretary (Employment & Welfare), Sawarna Rathnayaka; Attaché, G. M. D. Tharangika; Branch Head of Al Hilal Medical Center, Srijit and Branch Marketing Head of Al Hilal Medical Center, Unnikrishnan.

The initiative is part of the Embassy’s ongoing efforts to support the health and well-being of the Sri Lankan community, recognizing the importance of accessible healthcare for all.
