The Sri Lanka Embassy in Lebanon organized a celebration at the Embassy premises in Beirut on 05 February 2023 to mark the 75th Independence Day of Sri Lanka.
The national anthem was sung in both Sinhala and Tamil, followed by the observance of two minutes silence in remembrance of Sri Lanka's national heroes. The Independence Day messages of the President, Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka were also read out. In his speech Ambassador-designate Kapila Jayaweera emphasized the importance of working together to overcome the challenges for the prosperity of the country at this decisive time.
Sri Lanka Army Officers attached to the United Nations Interim Force In Lebanon (UNIFIL), members of the Sri Lankan community and associations, representatives of Tea Importers and Foreign Employment Association, and Sri Lanka's well wishers in Lebanon attended to the event.
