The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Kuwait together with well-wishers and those who are residing in the Embassy safe house celebrated Christmas on 22nd December 2017 at the Embassy premises.

The Christmas programme comprised of carols and dances performed by migrant workers residing in the safe house and Sri Lankan children living in Kuwait.

Rev. Fr. Ivon Perera conducted the religious ceremony and bestowed blessings upon all Sri Lankans for a happy and prosperous year ahead. Chargé d’ Affairs a.i. of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Kuwait Charitha Weerasinghe while conveying the greetings and best wishes of Ambassador Kaandeepan Bala to all Sri Lankans in Kuwait, stressed the importance of celebrations of this nature, which promote goodwill and religious harmony among different communities of Sri Lankans living in Kuwait.

In keeping with the true spirit of Christmas and to share the joy and happiness of the season with others, the Embassy distributed Christmas gifts among children and migrant workers.

The role of Santa Claus was played by a Sri Lankan expatriate to make the event more vibrant and joyful. Over 200 Sri Lankans participated in the event and enjoyed the Christmas dinner served to the guests.
