The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Kathmandu celebrated Poson on 10th June 2017 at the Embassy premises with the participation of Sri Lankan community residing in Kathmandu and a large number of Nepali people.
Ven. Maithri Thero, the President of All Nepal Bhikku Association of Nepal led the programme and sixteen Buddhist monks participated at this religious ceremony.
Special Dhamma talk on "Significance of Poson" was delivered by Ven. Gnanaruchi Thero, Chief incumbent of Sri Lanka Maha Viharaya, Lumbini and Ven. Pannarathana Thero, Sumangala Viharaya, Kathmandu delivered a Dhamma deshana in Nepali Language.
Ven. Maha Sanga invoked blessings upon Sri Lanka, its People and the Nepali people who gathered at the event.
In keeping with traditions of Poson, Bhakthi Gee were also sung by the Embassy Staff and some members of Sri Lankan community in Kathmandu. The Embassy Premises was decorated with Buddhist flags and coloured bulbs. Addressing the gathering Ambassador W.S. Perera briefed the importance of Poson Poya Day and thanked the participants.
Traditional refreshments were served to the gathering at the end of the programme.
