Embassy of Sri Lanka in Jakarta Facilitates ‘Manaram Sri Lanka’ tour for Indonesian Buddhist Travellers

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Jakarta in collaboration with the SriLankan Airlines and Jetwing Travels facilitated a tour to Sri Lanka for 23 Indonesian Buddhist travelers on 08 March 2024. This initiative followed the successful familiarization tour organized by the Embassy last year for 11 Indonesian Buddhist travelers and a prominent social media influencer.

There is an increasing awareness among Indonesians on Sri Lanka as a result of the consistent efforts made by the Embassy to promote Sri Lanka as a prime tourist destination. The Embassy is planning to organize another large scale tour for Indonesian travellers in June 2024.

Chairperson of the WANDANI Buddhist Association in Indonesia Wenny Lo led the tour group. A distinctive feature of this year's tour is the inclusion of  some of the travelers who had joined the last year tour. They have joined this group to witness the beauty of Sri Lanka and its rich Buddhist history and culture again. Themed as "Manaram Sri Lanka," the tour revisited cherished destinations from the previous year fostering deeper connections and  people to people contacts.

During their visit, the group gifted 60 bags containing stationery items and candy to the children of Sunday Buddhist Dhamma school in Kithulhitiyawa. Furthermore, they financially contributed towards the completion of a Stupa at the temple showcasing their commitment to support Sri Lanka's community.
