Diplomatic Charity Bazaar 2024 was organized in collaboration with the members of the Sri Lankan community in Ethiopia, particularly those employed at the Industrial Park in Hawassa City and the Bole Lemi Industrial Park located in the capital city of Addis Ababa.

The Sri Lankan food stall, “Muluthangeya” showcased the rich culinary heritage of Sri Lanka, drawing a large number of participants to savour traditional Sri Lankan dishes prepared by the staff of the Embassy and the members of the Sri Lankan Community. Key highlights of the stall included koththu roti, egg hoppers, hoppers with jackfruit curry, coconut roti with lunumiris, string hoppers with pol sambol, and crispy vegetable and tuna rolls. Additionally, it offered a diverse selection of Ceylon tea products, captivating many foreign nationals in search of authentic, high-quality tea merchandise. Local and foreign participants were offered a delightful cup of Ceylon tea accompanied by homemade milk toffee and other savoury items.

Enhancing the cultural experience, a member of the Sri Lankan community performed a captivating flute piece, enriching the UNECA compound with vibrant Sri Lankan music.

Funds raised at the Sri Lankan stalls were donated to the DSGE to support over 25 charity projects conducted under Project Matrix of the DSGE aimed at improving the lives of those in need within the host country.
