The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Bahrain celebrated the International Women’s Day, in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Women’s Association in Bahrain, at the Embassy premises on 10 March 2023.
Ambassador designate to Bahrain H.M.G.R.R.K. Wijeratne Mendis delivered the International Women’s Day message of President Ranil Wickremesinghe, and extended her sincere congratulations and best wishes to all participants, especially the women. She highlighted the importance of the occasion and the significant role played by the women in Sri Lanka in the country's progress and prosperity. Ambassador designate Mendis emphasized on the extraordinary contribution made by Sir Lankan female migrant workers and their noteworthy contribution to the economic and social development of the country. The Embassy also awarded certificates of appreciation to Sri Lankan female migrant workers who have been serving in Bahrain for more than 25 years.
Head of the Migrant Workers Protection Society in Bahrain Evone Baskaran emphasized that women have equal rights in social, economic, political and judicial sectors, and the power to fight for what is right. She also elaborated the rules and regulations of immigration and the Labour Market Regulatory Authority in Bahrain for the benefit of the female migrant workers in the audience. Member of the Sri Lankan Women’s Association Meera Alwis made a presentation highlighting the significant contribution of female domestic workers to the families and societies of Sri Lanka and Bahrain.
In parallel to the event, a trade exhibition & fair was organized by the Embassy with the participation of Sri Lankan women entrepreneurs and Sri Lankan business women in Bahrain, where their paintings, handicrafts, batik and jewelry products were displayed. The event ended with colorful cultural items performed by the Sri Lankan community in Bahrain representing Thiranga Kala dancing academy and the Sri Lankan Buddhist & Catholic Associations. A large number from the Sri Lankan community and other guests attended this event.

බහරේනයේ ශ්‍රී ලංකා තානාපති කාර්යාලය ජාත්‍යන්තර කාන්තා දිනය සමරයි
බහරේනයේ ශ්‍රී ලංකා තානාපති කාර්යාලය, බහරේනයේ ශ්‍රී ලංකා කාන්තා සංගමය සමඟ එක්ව 2023 මාර්තු 10 වැනි දින සිය තානාපති කාර්යාල පරිශ්‍රයේ දී ජාත්‍යන්තර කාන්තා දිනය සැමරුවේ ය.
මෙම උත්සවය අතරතුර ජනාධිපති රනිල් වික්‍රමසිංහ මැතිතුමාගේ ජාත්‍යන්තර කාන්තා දින පණිවුඩය ඉදිරිපත් කළ බහරේනයේ ශ්‍රී ලංකා තානාපති එච්.එම්.ජී.ආර්.ආර්.කේ. විජේරත්න මෙන්ඩිස් මැතිනිය, මෙම අවස්ථාවට සහභාගී වූ සැමට සහ විශේෂයෙන්ම කාන්තාවන්ට සිය අවංක සුබ පැතුම් පිරිනැමුවා ය. මෙම අවස්ථාවෙ හි වැදගත්කම මෙන්ම ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ ප්‍රගතිය සහ සමෘද්ධිමත්භාවය වෙනුවෙන් ශ්‍රී ලාංකික කාන්තාවන් විසින් ඉටු කරන ලද සුවිශේෂී කාර්යභාරය එතුමිය විසින් අවධාරණය කරන ලදී. ශ්‍රී ලාංකික කාන්තා සංක්‍රමණික ශ්‍රමිකයින් ලබා දෙන අද්විතීය දායකත්වය සහ රටේ ආර්ථික හා සමාජීය සංවර්ධනය සඳහා ඔවුන් ලබා දෙන කැපී පෙනෙන දායකත්වය පිළිබඳව ද තානාපති මෙන්ඩිස් මැතිනිය මෙහිදී අවධාරණය කළා ය. බහරේනයේ වසර 25කට අධික කාලයක් මුළුල්ලේ සේවයේ නියුතු ශ්‍රී ලාංකික සංක්‍රමණික ශ්‍රමිකයින්ගේ සේවය ඇගයීම සඳහා තානාපති කාර්යාලය විසින් සහතික පත්‍ර පිරිනමන ලදී.
මෙහිදී සිය අදහස් පළ කළ බහරේනයේ සංක්‍රමණික කම්කරු ආරක්ෂණ සංගමයේ ප්‍රධානී ඉවෝන් බාස්කරන් මහත්මිය, කාන්තාවන්ට සමාජ, ආර්ථික, දේශපාලන සහ අධිකරණ යන අංශ තුළ සමාන අයිතිවාසිකම් ඇති බවත්, නිවැරදි දේ සඳහා සටන් කිරීමේ බලය ඇති බවත් අවධාරණය කළා ය. මෙම අවස්ථාවට සහභාගී වූ කාන්තා සංක්‍රමණික ශ්‍රමිකයින්ගේ ප්‍රයෝජනය සඳහා ඉවහල් වන ආගමන විගමන කටයුතුවලට අදාළ නීති සහ රෙගුලාසි මෙන්ම බහරේනයේ කම්කරු වෙළඳපොළ නියාමන අධිකාරිය පිළිබඳව එතුමිය මෙහිදී විස්තර කළා ය. ශ්‍රී ලංකා කාන්තා සංගමයේ සාමාජිකයකු වන මීරා අල්විස් මහත්මිය, ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ සහ බහරේනයේ පවුල් සහ ප්‍රජාවන් සඳහා ගෘහ සේවිකාවන් ලබා දෙන කැපී පෙනෙන දායකත්වය ඉස්මතු කරමින් ඉදිරිපත් කිරීමක් සිදු කළා ය.
මෙම උත්සවයට සමගාමීව බහරේනයේ ශ්‍රී ලාංකික කාන්තා ව්‍යවසායිකාවන්ගේ සහ ශ්‍රී ලාංකික ව්‍යාපාරික කාන්තාවන්ගේ සහභාගීත්වයෙන් තානාපති කාර්යාලය විසින් වෙළඳ ප්‍රදර්ශනයක් සහ ප්‍රදර්ශනයක් සංවිධානය කරන ලදී. ඔවුන්ගේ සිතුවම්, හස්ත කර්මාන්ත, බතික් සහ ස්වර්ණාභරණ නිෂ්පාදන මෙහිදී ප්‍රදර්ශනය කරන ලදී. බහරේනයේ ශ්‍රී ලාංකික ප්‍රජාව නියෝජනය කරමින් තිරංගා කලා නර්ථන ඇකඩමිය සහ ශ්‍රී ලාංකික බෞද්ධ සහ කතෝලික සංගම් විසින් ඉදිරිපත් කරන ලද වර්ණවත් සංස්කෘතික අංගවලින් මෙම උත්සවය අවසන් කෙරිණි. ශ්‍රී ලාංකික ප්‍රජාව සහ අනෙකුත් ආරාධිතයින් විශාල පිරිසක් මෙම අවස්ථාව සඳහා සහභාගී වූහ.
