Christmas day celebrations were observed at the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Amman, Jordan on 29th December 2017. This event, symbolizing harmony, joy and peace was organized by the Embassy with the fullest support of the staff. A large number of Sri Lankans representing different faiths participated in this event.
The main occurrence of the festivity was the Holy Mass conducted by Rev. Fr. Niroshan Srikantha and he also invoked blessings upon all Sri Lankans. The event was followed by elegant dances, songs and carols performed by children from the Sri Lankan community living in Jordan.
Addressing the diverse group of Sri Lankans living in Jordan, Ambassador A.L.M Lafeer, emphasized on the importance of peace and harmony among Sri Lankans citing the life of the Lord Jesus Crist as an illustration. The Ambassador further noted the significance of being virtuous and true to oneself, despite undue influences created by various forces in the contemporary society.
Afternoon tea and Sri Lankan sweetmeats were served at the end of the event to all participants, in keeping with the yule-time spirit.
