Embassy of Sri Lanka holds meeting with Secretary General of Saudi Export Development Authority Saleh S. Al Solami

The Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Saudi Arabia Azmi Thassim held a meeting with Secretary General of Saudi Export Development Authority at SEDA in Riyadh Saleh S. Al Solami on 06 October 2019 to discuss on the Saudi Export Program and using of available facilities by Sri Lankan companies.

The Saudi Export Development Authority (SAUDI EXPORTS) is an independent national institution that promotes Saudi non-oil exports and support exporters to increase their competitiveness, promote their goods and services to expand internationally, and to remove trade barriers.

During the discussion, the Ambassador pointed out that several mega projects funded by Saudi Arabia are now operating in Sri Lanka.  He further underlined that the importance of increasing trade, tourism and investments between the countries. He requested the Secretary General, SEDA to expand the Saudi exports through Saudi Export Programme (SEP) to supply raw materials to Sri Lankan manufacturers/ producers.

The Secretary General appreciated the initiatives taken by Sri Lankan Companies to import Saudi Products under SEP and informed that necessary linkages will be created between SEDA and SEP to promote the export credit programme. He further assured that they could provide necessary assistance for business networking programmes to be arranged in Sri Lanka and Saudi Arabia.

The Ambassador was accompanied by Minister Counsellor, (Commercial) Sanjeewa Pattiwila and Desk Officer/Bilateral Affairs of the Embassy A.L.M Jabeer.
