Doors Open for Sri Lankan Construction Companies in Africa

Sri Lankan construction companies participated at the 16th Ethio-Con International Construction Exhibition held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from 24 -27 September, 2019 and secured new business opportunities in the African Continent.

The international exhibition which attracted  over 125 African construction companies was inaugurated by Minister of Construction and Urban Development of Ethiopia Eng. Aisha Mohammed Mussa. Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the Minister highlighted that   opportunities are vast for foreign construction firms in Ethiopia and Africa. She further stated that the Government of Ethiopia provides attractive incentives to foreign construction companies.

Addressing the inaugural session, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union Commission, Sumith Dassanayake stated that Sri Lanka has a very strong construction industry.

The Ambassador also informed that the Sri Lankan construction companies have earned international reputation, especially in the African continent. He invited African construction firms to have business partnerships with Sri Lankan counterparts for the mutual benefit of the two Countries.

The Sri Lankan business delegation was consisted of the representatives from Saw Engineering (Pvt) Ltd., APS Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, and International Construction Consortium (Pvt). Ltd. The Sri Lankan companies had successful business meetings with their Ethiopian and African counterparts.
