Foreign Secretary Aruni Wijewardane chaired an exchange of views with eminent Sri Lankan experts who have contributed internationally on matters related to the advancement of women. This discussion took place in the context of the Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW).
Former expert of the CEDAW Committee emeritus Prof. Savitri W. E. Goonesekere, serving expert of the CEDAW Committee Prof. Rangita De Silva De Alwis, former Secretary of Justice Dhara Wijayatilake, and Prof. Camena Guneratne shared their views.
Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the UN in Geneva Ambassador Himalee Arunatilaka joined virtually, and senior representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Women and Child Affairs and Social Empowerment, and the Presidential Secretariat contributed actively to the discussion.
The discussion took place at the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute (LKI).
