Deputy Foreign Minister of Italy Senator Benedetto Della Vedova, is undertaking an official visit to Sri Lanka from 17-19 May 2016. This is the first high-level visit from Italy since the last visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy in 2006. The visit to Sri Lanka will contribute towards renewing the longstanding bilateral relations between the two countries and open new avenues for increased trade cooperation.
Deputy Foreign Minister of Italy Senator Benedetto Della Vedova, is undertaking an official visit to Sri Lanka from 17-19 May 2016. This is the first high-level visit from Italy since the last visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy in 2006. The visit to Sri Lanka will contribute towards renewing the longstanding bilateral relations between the two countries and open new avenues for increased trade cooperation.
The visiting Minister is scheduled to have meetings with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Power and Energy, the Minister of Special Assignments, the Minister of Foreign Employment and the Minister of Development Strategies and International Trade.
A four member business delegation specializing in the apparel industry and renewable energy from Euro Green Power Ltd, Moving Energy, U2k Worldwide, and Building Energy is accompanying the Deputy Minister to Sri Lanka.
During his two day official visit, the Deputy Minister is scheduled to visit one of the leading Italian investments in Sri Lanka “Calzedonia” (named “OMEGA LINE” in Sri Lanka) factory in “Dankotuwa. The “OMEGA LINE” operates 7 manufacturing plants including one in Jaffna and provides employment for more than 17,000.
