The Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Los Angeles officially commenced work for the year 2024 on the first working day of 2024. The programme began with the hoisting of the National Flag and singing of the National Anthem by the staff.
After lighting the traditional oil lamp and conducting religious observances, the staff of the Consulate General observed a two-minute silence to commemorate the war heroes and others who sacrificed their lives on behalf of the motherland.
The staff also took the “Oath of Public Servants” pledging to provide an efficient and productive service with firm determination and utmost dedication.
Thereafter, the Consul General addressed the staff and extended his best wishes for the new year. He elaborated on the policy and the programmes introduced by the government to overcome the present challenges and the contribution of the public officials in achieving the goals.
The programme concluded with serving of milk rice and Sri Lankan traditional sweetmeats.
