Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Dubai continuous to provide welfare assistance to Sri Lankan expatriates

The Consulate General of Sri Lanka to Dubai and Northern Emirates continues to provide welfare assistance to the deprived Sri Lankan expatriates to redress the hardships they are experiencing due to the exceptional consequences of COVID-19 global pandemic.

Strengthening the efforts of the Consulate General office, the Ministry of Foreign Relations in Colombo has provided 1000 packs of dry food rations and 800 packs of sanitary items to be distributed among the adversely affected needy Sri Lankan expatriates in the United Arab Emirates. The National Carrier Sri Lankan Airlines sponsored to deliver this cargo to Dubai on a cost-free basis.

To date, the Consulate General office in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment has distributed more than 5000 dry rations among the Sri Lankan expatriates in Dubai and Northern Emirates. Sri Lankan Associations, individuals and Charity organizations based in Dubai and Northern Emirates too collaborate with the Consulate General Office in its efforts of providing welfare to the needy expatriates.

The Consulate General office has taken a number of initiatives to ensure wellbeing of the Sri Lankan Community in Dubai and Northern Emirates during this pandemic. These measures include providing dry food rations, cooked meals and required medical assistance where necessary while also making arrangements to repatriate the most vulnerable groups in close coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Relations, Presidential Secretariat of Sri Lanka and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates.
