On the request of the Sri Lankan community, Ambassador Jagath Wellawatte guided the staff of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Italy to conduct a Consular Mobile Service in Napoli, Italy on 24 June 2023 to the Sri Lankan community residing/working in Campania Region, Basilicata Region and Apulia Region and Capri Island.
During the Consular Mobile Service, Mission staff served around 400 Sri Lankans who applied for new passports, renewal of passports, passport endorsements, emergency passports, birth registrations, citizenship certificates, power of attorney, attestations, no objection letter (NullaOsta) for marriages, police reports, translations of Sri Lankan documents, etc.
The Deputy Chief of Mission headed the Mission staff. Mr. Carmine Capasso, Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka in Napoli also attended the service. Sri Lankan community in Napoli provided assistance to the Mission in organizing the Consular Mobile Service in the city centre.
Deputy Chief of Mission Ratnasingam Kohularangan and Honorary Consul Carmine Capasso met Deputy Prefect, Immigration office of the of Prefecture of Naples Vincenzo Chietti and Chief of Immigration office of Questura (Police Headquarters) of Naples Stefano Losco and discussed matters related to the Sri Lankan migrants in the area.
