The Consul General of Sri Lanka in Toronto Thushara Rodrigo graced the “Eagle Nite 2024” a social event organized by St. John’s and Chundikuli Girls’ Schools Jaffna Alumni Association in Canada at the invitation of the Alumni Association. This annual event was held in Toronto on 25 May and attended by around 400 Tamil professionals, academics and leading businessmen living in Canada. This Alumni Association is one of the leading associations led by senior Tamil professionals who are past pupils of St. John’s and Chundikuli Girls’ Schools in Jaffna.
The event provided a broad networking opportunity to the members of the Alumni Association and Sri Lankan newcomers to Canada.
The Consul General had the opportunity to discuss the current socio-economic and political developments in Sri Lanka with these professionals and brief certain individuals on the progress of the ongoing reconciliation efforts of the country. Majority of them were optimistic on the current developments.
