The staff of the Sri Lanka High Commission in Canberra commenced work on the first day of the year with a special programme held in the morning of Wednesday, 01 January 2020 at its premises.
The programme commenced with the hoisting of the national flag by the Acting High Commissioner followed by the singing of the national anthem by the staff. Afterwards, two minutes silence was observed to commemorate the war heroes and others who sacrificed their lives on behalf of the motherland. The staff of the High Commission took the “Oath of Public Servants” pledging to work, efficiently and productively throughout the year.
Addressing the staff, the Acting High Commissioner extended best wishes for the new year and highlighted the importance of each and every member of the staff fulfilling their respective duties efficiently and productively with dedication and integrity for an efficient and productive public service.
The programme concluded with partaking of milk rice and sweetmeats.
