The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Brussels commenced work on the first day of the year 2020 with a brief ceremony in the Embassy premises. Ambassador Grace Asirwatham hoisted the National Flag, which was followed by singing of the National Anthem and observance of two minutes silence to commemorate the war heroes and others who sacrificed their lives on behalf of the motherland. The Staff of the Embassy affirmed their pledge to serve the country by reading aloud the Oath of Public Servants.
Ambassador Asirwatham addressed the Staff highlighting the importance of showing positive attitude towards work, team work to achieve targets and goals assigned to the Embassy while optimizing the use of resources. Further the Ambassador added that all Staff Members should be aware of the Government’s policies and strategies especially on economic diplomacy and their own responsibilities in order for the Mission to contribute efficiently towards realizing its mandate to promote economic relations between Sri Lanka and Belgium, the European Union and Luxembourg.
Traditional breakfast of milk rice and sweetmeats were served at the end of the ceremony.
