Sri Lanka High Commission commenced work in the New Year 2019 with an Oath Taking Ceremony on 1 January 2019 at the High Commission premises. The Official ceremony included the hoisting of the national flag and the singing of the national anthem by the staff, which were followed by the observance of a two-minutes silence in remembrance of the war heroes and those who sacrificed their lives on behalf of the motherland. High Commissioner Austin Fernando read the Oath for the public servants together with the staff of the High Commission.
Addressing the staff, the High Commissioner sought team work and commitment of the staff, furthering India Sri Lanka relations.
The High Commissioner and the staff took part in the religious observances held at the New Delhi Centre of the Mahabodhi Society of India in the evening.
